Collaborations With Industry
Susan collaborates with companies by borrowing materials for exhibitions and returning them to be recycled once the exhibitions are over. This enables huge scale site-specific installations to be realised in an ecologically friendly way.
The most recent collaboration was with Secure IT Recycling, a UK Cheshire based Recycling company-
Secure IT Recycling - UK Specialists for Secure Computer Recycling , IT Disposal, CESG approved Data Destruction, On and Offsite Hard drive Destruction and WEEE Recycling.
Secure IT provided the components for two projects to date, Flood at York St Mary's and World the Public commission at Bedfordshire University's Luton site, see link - http://www.beds.ac.uk/news/2010/oct/101026-artwork. For Flood they lent 4 tons of Power Supplies that made the dramatic tower sited in the 13th century church of St Mary's in York (see Exhibitions section Flood). These were returned to Secure IT at the end of the exhibition to be recycled. For World they supplied Motherboards and mixed components to make the world map that is now permanently sited on the atrium wall of Bedfordshire University's central Luton campus' new student building (see Projects section World Commission).
Past Collaborations - B-side Ecology, at Mimi Space, The Hong's Foundation for Education and Culture, Taipei, Taiwan. Sponsored by E&E recycling inc. B-side Ecology was Susan's first opportunity to work with recycled computer components, see Exhibitions section. In past years Susan was sponsored by the Kimberly Clark Corporation who supplied her with industrial quantities of tissue paper to make sculptures and installations with all over the world, see Exhibitions and Commissions - Material Accomplices, San Antonio, Embedded, London and Paper, Steel, Paper, Scunthorpe.
